Curatorial Internship Programme

ARTSPACE offers a unique opportunity every year for one person who has a dedication to curating to learn in a mentored relationship with the ARTSPACE Director. By assisting the Director with implementing our annual programme of activities they will learn the intricacies of curating contemporary art. The position requires a passion for contemporary art, a willingness to take on diverse tasks and the ability to work in a small dedicated team.

The candidate will:

absorb, enquire and extend themselves in a manner which alters their field of vision.

provide a critical sounding board for the Director as they research and produce exhibitions, essays and concepts.

actively take part in all stages of the exhibition process from the conceptual planning through physical installation to promotion and administration.

The internship culminates in the curation of an exhibition at ARTSPACE.

Previous interns have gone onto to study and work in Europe at the world renowned institutions de Appel and Witte de With.

Education and Group Visits

ARTSPACE welcomes classes and groups. The director and curatorial intern are always happy to talk on current exhibitions or about the organisation and its activities.

Gallery Hire

The gallery space is suitable for corporate events, product launches, film shoots and performance. The base rate is $1000 plus GST per day. The gallery spaces are available throughout the year when our programme permits.
